Luke Martineau
Born in 1970, Luke is a London-based artist who was educated at Eton before gaining a First in English and Modern Languages at Oxford. He studied briefly at The Heatherley School of Fine Art in London before beginning to paint professionally in the 1990s.
Luke is a versatile painter whose output encompasses portraiture, landscape, still life and illustration. He exhibits regularly in the West End of London and has a thriving portrait practice. He is currently President of the Chelsea Art Society. His work can be found in many private and public collections, including the Royal Collection.
Luke’s alphabet range for boys and girls is based on his own children, and these delightful images are a celebration and exploration of the enduring aspects of childhood, the simple pleasures of the great outdoors, role play and the imagination. The prints are taken from original acrylic paintings inspired by the woodcuts of William Nicholson, whose work Luke much admires.
The perfect present for the birth of a child, a birthday or a christening, these are classic images that will last and give pleasure for years to come.
